He sorta struggles to read the words on his little slip of paper. This new guy he’s working for doesn’t have the best of handwriting, but the name also just doesn’t, um... register well in his brain. It seems a little foreign, so he’ll  try his best.

Somehow Planet Express ended up with another HUMAN delivery, except this one was cryogenically frozen. Keyword being was. Fry had maybe accidentally tripped over the plug that kept the coolant running and unfroze whoever was in the tube.

Whoops.

      “What’s your name? The packing slip just says ‘human,’ but it can’t be that- there’s no first name, and I know you’re not related to RJ Human.”

She was trying to convince him that he was in the year 2016, and he just wasn’t buying it. The technology was too new, but the buildings looked too old. It absolutely couldn’t be possible that humanity had gotten so far ahead in only sixteen years. Fry’s mind was just plain blown--

(But wasn’t it always?)

      “I mean, I know it’s not 3000, but isn’t it a little bit closer than that?” he asked, scratching his head. “Like... Like 2990? That would make so much more sense. ‘Cause this really, really feels like it’s later than it is, and it’s giving me a headache.”

He’s a big fucking LIAR, but he’s never going to admit that. If there’s one thing Fry is (or THINKS he is) really good at, it’s bullshitting his way through an  embarrassing situation. And there is no way in Robot HELL that he’s going to make himself look bad in front of a girl.

He’s like... stunned. TOTALLY. Stunned. (But don’t be too flattered. It’s not like that’s an incredibly difficult feat we’re talking about  here.)

      “H-Hey--! You! Wait!”

And now here he is, falling over himself as he runs to catch up with this random stranger. But he’s GOT to know: where he is, when he is, what he is-- Okay, maybe that’s going just a little too far. All he knows at this point is that this isn’t New New York and that he is completely and utterly lost.

      “Can you, uh... Can you tell me-- Uhhhh...”       There’s a pause, and he reaches up to run       a hand through his fiery hair. “Not to be        weird or anything, but what year is this?”
